Program Purpose:
To provide affordable counseling services, mental health education
and referrals to individuals, couples and families throughout Santa Cruz County.
History:
Counseling Services was the first program of the agency founded in 1957
to provide services designed to maintain and strengthen individual,
family and community life.
Service Description:
Many people seek counseling because they have had major stresses and are
in crisis due to relationship issues, job loss, parenting, sexual orientation,
depression, alcohol and drug use or due to past problems of abuse or
dysfuntional families. Our clients are courageous in confronting their
issues while often struggling to maintain jobs, relationships, and
to develop new coping behavior. We also operate the PEAKS program for the
evaluation and assessment of at-risk children up to age eighteen. Rainbow Counseling
provides services for issues around sexual orientation. We
accept private insurance and members of the Central Coast Alliance
for Health. Clients are responsible for a portion of the fee based on a sliding scale related to monthly
family income.
